Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 ¼ cups warm water about 110°F
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Method

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  3. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  4. Stir with a wooden spoon until the dough begins to come together.
  5. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  7. Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into two equal portions for two pizzas.
  8. Roll out each portion on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  9. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.
  10. Top your pizza with your favorite ingredients and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
