Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped (optional for garnish)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, oregano, and thyme until well combined.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter until smooth.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  6. Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. If desired, sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.

  • For a spicier kick, add 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the dry ingredients.
  • You can substitute the cheddar cheese with your favorite cheese, such as mozzarella or pepper jack, for a different flavor profile.
