Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 cup chocolate protein powder
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan with non-stick spray or oil.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, coconut sugar, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, applesauce, almond milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. If using, fold in the dark chocolate chips.
  5. Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
