Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Cream together 1/2 cup of softened butter, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, and 1/2 cup of dark brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes. Add in 2 eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
- Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Gently fold in the peeled and diced apples and 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 40-45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
