Preparation and Cooking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 13" x 9" casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef for 7-8 minutes until no longer pink, drain excess grease, and stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Melt butter in the same skillet, sauté sliced mushrooms for 5 minutes, add flour, and gradually whisk in half & half and chicken broth until thickened.
- Remove the cream sauce from heat and stir in sour cream, Frank's Red Hot Sauce, cumin, and cayenne pepper.
- Layer half of the cooked ground beef, then the cream sauce, followed by cheese, jalapeños, remaining beef, and top with tater tots.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until the tater tots are golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
