  1. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add one chopped onion and two minced garlic cloves, sauté for 3–4 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Add 1 cup of orzo, stirring it in with the onion and garlic. Toast for about 2 minutes.
  3. Pour in 4 cups of broth, bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer uncovered for about 15 minutes.
  4. Stir in 2 cups of chopped broccoli and 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Cook for an additional 3–4 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
