Ingredients
  

For the Tofu
  • 1 block Firm or Extra Firm Tofu Best for achieving crunch.
  • 3 tablespoons Cornstarch Essential for crispy coating.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Can substitute with fresh garlic.
For the Coating
  • 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs For ultra-crunchy texture.
For the Bang Bang Sauce
  • 1 cup Vegan Mayonnaise Homemade or store-bought.
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha Adjust to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon White Sugar Can substitute with agave or maple syrup.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Opt for sea salt or Himalayan salt.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Start by removing excess moisture from the tofu. Wrap it in a clean towel and place a heavy object on top for about 15 minutes.
  2. Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
  3. In one bowl, combine cornstarch and garlic powder. In another bowl, pour in the panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Coat each tofu cube with the cornstarch mix, then roll in the panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Space the coated tofu on the sheet and bake for 30-40 minutes, flipping halfway.
  7. In a mixing bowl, whisk together vegan mayonnaise, Sriracha, sugar, and salt until smooth.
  8. Toss the baked tofu in the sauce and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, press tofu well, space out cubes on the baking sheet, and adjust Sriracha to your spice preference.
