Ingredients
  

For the Filling
  • 1 cup cooked shrimp freshly cooked for best taste
  • 1 cup cooked crab meat can substitute with shredded chicken or beans
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese substitute with pepper jack for spiciness
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened, can use garlic and herb variety
  • 1 cup queso dip mild or spicy
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro optional but recommended
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika can use regular paprika
For Wrapping
  • 8 small flour tortillas can use corn tortillas for gluten-free
For Frying
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil your preferred frying medium

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked shrimp, shredded crab meat, Monterey Jack cheese, softened cream cheese, and queso dip.
  2. Add finely chopped fresh cilantro, garlic powder, and smoked paprika to enhance the flavor. Mix until creamy and well-blended.
  3. Take a small flour tortilla and place 2-3 tablespoons of the filling in the center; roll tightly and secure with a toothpick if needed.
  4. In a large skillet, heat butter or oil over medium heat until shimmering.
  5. Add the taquitos seam-side down to the hot skillet and fry for 3-4 minutes, then rotate and fry the other side for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  6. Remove from skillet and let drain on paper towels. Drizzle warm queso over them and garnish with fresh cilantro.
