Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Thaw your frozen puff pastry sheets, roll them out gently to 1/8 inch thickness.
- Cut the rolled-out puff pastry into squares, four squares per stack.
- In a small bowl, combine a beaten egg with a splash of milk to create an egg wash.
Assembly
- Layer one pastry square with slices of ham and a generous portion of shredded cheese.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper, and add fresh herbs if using.
- Place another pastry square on top, pressing gently to seal the edges.
- Brush the tops with egg wash before transferring to the baking sheet.
Baking
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
