Making the Toffee
- Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine butter, sugar, salt, and water over medium heat. Stir constantly until deep golden brown, about 10-15 minutes.
- Remove from heat and pour the hot toffee into the prepared baking dish, spreading evenly.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips on top of the warm toffee, let sit for 2 minutes, then swirl the chocolate.
- Sprinkle chopped nuts over the melted chocolate, pressing gently to adhere.
- Cool at room temperature for about 2 hours or refrigerate for 30 minutes until set.
- Cut into squares or break into pieces once completely set.
