Preparing the Dessert
- Combine the granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, and melted unsalted butter in a mixing bowl. Mix until a crumbly texture forms, then press into the bottom of a greased baking dish. Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes, then cool completely.
- Beat the cream cheese until smooth, then mix in powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Spread evenly over the cooled dessert base.
- Rinse and slice the strawberries, and combine with blueberries. Optionally sprinkle sugar over the berries.
- Layer the berries artfully over the creamy filling. Add whipped cream if desired.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours.
- Remove from refrigerator, let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes, then serve with extra whipped cream and toppings.
