Method
 

Preparing the Dessert
  1. Combine the granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, and melted unsalted butter in a mixing bowl. Mix until a crumbly texture forms, then press into the bottom of a greased baking dish. Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes, then cool completely.
  2. Beat the cream cheese until smooth, then mix in powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Spread evenly over the cooled dessert base.
  3. Rinse and slice the strawberries, and combine with blueberries. Optionally sprinkle sugar over the berries.
  4. Layer the berries artfully over the creamy filling. Add whipped cream if desired.
  5. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours.
  6. Remove from refrigerator, let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes, then serve with extra whipped cream and toppings.
