  • 2 large eggs lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Apple Layer
  • 2 to 3 cups diced Granny Smith apples consider mixing in Honeycrisp apples
For the Topping
  • 0.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts/almonds
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • a pinch salt
  • 0.5 cups butter melted
For the Glaze
  • 0.5 cups brown sugar
  • 0.25 cups apple cider can substitute with milk or cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar until well combined.
  3. Stir in melted butter, sour cream, eggs, and vanilla extract into the dry mixture and mix until smooth.
  4. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and scatter diced Granny Smith apples on top.
  5. In a medium bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, chopped pecans, cinnamon, and salt. Drizzle melted butter and mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over the apples.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. While baking, make the glaze by combining brown sugar, apple cider, and butter in a saucepan until melted and smooth.
  8. Allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes before drizzling the warm glaze on top and serve.
