Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the bread into 1-inch thick slices and arrange in a greased baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  3. Pour the custard over the bread slices, ensuring each piece is coated. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  4. Once ready to bake, remove the cover and place in the preheated oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the custard is set and the top is golden.
  5. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with sugar, and caramelize with a kitchen torch or broiler until crispy.
