  • 1 cup Chocolate chips Semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips.
  • 1 cup Miniature Reese’s peanut butter cups Can substitute with other chocolate candy bars.
For the Frosting
  • 8 oz Cream cheese, softened Mascarpone can be substituted.
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, softened Margarine can be used if necessary.
  • 1/2 cup Creamy peanut butter Natural peanut butter can change texture.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract Almond extract can be used for variety.
  • 4 cups Powdered sugar Granulated sugar can be used but requires more blending.
Serving Suggestion
  • 1 scoop Vanilla ice cream Any creamy ice cream can work.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine chocolate cake mix with ingredients specified on the package and whisk until smooth. Pour the batter into the greased dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat together cream cheese, butter, peanut butter, and vanilla until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and mix until fluffy.
  4. Spread frosting over the cake batter evenly. Sprinkle chocolate chips and press halved Reese's cups into the frosting.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  6. Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes, cut into squares, and serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.
