Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut off the top of the sweet onion and peel. Slice into 8-12 equal segments, keeping the root intact.
- Set up three bowls: mix flour and spices in one, whisk eggs and milk in another, and fill the last with panko breadcrumbs.
- Dredge the onion in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg wash, and finally coat in panko breadcrumbs.
- Place the onion on the baking sheet with petals facing up and spray with cooking spray.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, rotating halfway, until golden and crispy.
- While baking, mix all dipping sauce ingredients in a bowl until creamy and well combined.
- Remove the onion from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve hot with dipping sauce.
