Step-by-Step Instructions for Brown-Butter Banana Bread
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8.5-by-4.5-inch loaf pan.
- Melt 1 stick of unsalted butter in a sauté pan over medium heat until browned.
- Mash 3 ripe bananas in a bowl and add 3 large eggs, whisking them together.
- In another bowl, mix together 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of dark brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of salt, and ½ teaspoon of nutmeg.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, then add the browned butter gently.
- Pour the batter into the loaf pan and add banana halves and brown sugar on top.
- Bake for 70 to 80 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Tent with foil if browning too quickly.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
