Step-by-Step Instructions for Brown-Butter Banana Bread
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8.5-by-4.5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Melt 1 stick of unsalted butter in a sauté pan over medium heat until browned.
  3. Mash 3 ripe bananas in a bowl and add 3 large eggs, whisking them together.
  4. In another bowl, mix together 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of dark brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of salt, and ½ teaspoon of nutmeg.
  5. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, then add the browned butter gently.
  6. Pour the batter into the loaf pan and add banana halves and brown sugar on top.
  7. Bake for 70 to 80 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Tent with foil if browning too quickly.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
