- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat together butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Add pumpkin puree, egg, and vanilla to creamed mixture; mix until smooth.

- Cover and chill dough for at least 1 hour.

- Scoop tablespoons of dough onto prepared sheets, leaving space in between.

- In a bowl, beat cream cheese and butter, then add powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
- Frost cooled cookies and top with sprinkles or nuts, if desired.
