  • 1 pound Flank steak can substitute with chicken, pork, or tofu
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce use gluten-free if needed
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar can replace with honey or coconut sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame oil olive oil works in a pinch
  • 2 cloves Minced garlic use fresh for best flavor
  • 1 tablespoon Grated ginger fresh is ideal
For the Bowl
  • 2 cups Cooked rice any type will do
  • 2 cups Vegetables e.g., bell peppers, broccoli, carrots
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil canola or sunflower seed oil
For the Spicy Cream Sauce
  • 1 cup Sour cream substitute with dairy-free for vegan
  • 2 tablespoons Gochujang adjust based on spice tolerance
  • 1 tablespoon Honey maple syrup works as a vegan alternative
  • 1 tablespoon Lime juice lemon juice will also do
For Serving
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame seeds can be omitted
  • 2 tablespoons Green onions chives make a fine substitute

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Marinate the flank steak for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  2. Prepare rice according to package instructions. Rinse and cook in boiling water or rice cooker. Fluff rice and set aside.
  3. Combine sour cream, gochujang, honey, and lime juice until smooth. Set aside.
  4. Wash and chop vegetables into bite-sized pieces. Set aside.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear marinated flank steak for 4-5 minutes per side until medium-rare.
  6. In the same skillet, sauté the chopped vegetables over medium heat for 3-5 minutes.
  7. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
  8. Assemble bowls with cooked rice, sliced steak, and sautéed vegetables.
  9. Drizzle the spicy cream sauce over each bowl.
  10. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
