For the Meat Filling
  • 1 pound Ground Beef Substitute with ground turkey or chicken if desired.
  • 1 medium Onion Adds sweetness and texture; shallots can be used for a milder taste.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh garlic is preferred, but powdered can work in a pinch.
  • 2 tablespoons Taco Seasoning or Spices Can use store-bought or homemade.
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste or Salsa Salsa can amp up the flavor and spice level.
For the Wraps
  • 4 pieces Tortillas Soft flour tortillas are ideal; corn tortillas can also be used.
  • 1 cup Cheddar or Monterey Jack Cheese Vegan cheese alternatives can be used for a dairy-free option.
Optional Toppings
  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream Adds a creamy, cool element.
  • 1 cup Shredded Lettuce For a fresh crunch.
  • 1 medium Diced Avocado Provides healthy fats.
  • 1 medium Jalapeños For a spicy kick.
  • 1/4 cup Pickled Onions Adds tang and crunch.

Equipment

  • Large skillet

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned.
  2. Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for an additional 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  3. Mix in your choice of taco seasoning or spices along with the tomato paste or salsa. Allow to simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Lay out your tortillas and spoon the beef mixture onto the center of each. Sprinkle with cheese and toppings.
  5. Fold the sides of the tortillas inward and roll tightly to create a burrito-like shape. Repeat for each tortilla.
  6. Heat oil or butter in the skillet over medium heat. Place the wraps seam-side down and cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Slice the wraps in half and serve with salsa, guacamole, or sour cream for dipping.
