Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Pepper Steak
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Add the thinly sliced beef and marinate for 15-30 minutes.
  2. Slice the bell peppers and onion into thin strips. Mince the garlic and ginger, and set aside.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat. Sear the marinated beef in batches for 1-2 minutes per side until browned.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining oil and sauté the bell peppers and onion over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet. Cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  6. Return the seared beef to the skillet and add beef broth or water. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
