Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and thyme until well combined.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped parsley (if using) until evenly distributed.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, egg, and olive oil until well combined.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
