Tofu
  • 1 lb Silken Tofu Preferably Korean style for a firm texture
Sauce
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic Minced; substitute with garlic powder if needed
  • 3 tbsp Soy Sauce Opt for low-sodium
  • 1 tbsp Black Vinegar Rice vinegar can be used if needed
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil Any neutral oil can be a replacement
  • 2 tbsp Vegetarian Oyster Sauce Hoisin sauce can substitute for sweetness
  • 1 tbsp Sugar Coconut sugar is a healthier alternative
  • 1 tbsp Chili Oil Optional for heat; fresh chili can also add spice

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Drain excess water from the silken tofu and slice into ½ to 1-inch thick pieces.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine minced garlic, soy sauce, black vinegar, sesame oil, vegetarian oyster sauce, sugar, and chili oil.
  3. Prepare your steamer or a makeshift one with a heatproof plate atop a pot.
  4. Steam the tofu for 8-10 minutes until warm and slightly firmer.
  5. Carefully remove tofu from the heat, place on a serving plate, and pour the soy garlic sauce over the top.
