  • 3 cloves Garlic minced

  • 1 teaspoon Paprika substitute with smoked paprika if desired
  • ½ teaspoon Dried Thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes optional
  • ½ cup Chicken Broth
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream or coconut milk for dairy-free

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook penne pasta for 8-10 minutes until al dente. Reserve ½ cup pasta water, drain the rest, and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Cook sausage for 5-7 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add onion and bell pepper. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Add Cajun seasoning, paprika, thyme, and red pepper flakes. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Pour in chicken broth, bring to a simmer, then stir in heavy cream and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  6. Return sausage to skillet, add pasta, and toss to combine. Adjust consistency with reserved pasta water as needed.
  7. Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with parsley and Parmesan cheese before serving.
