Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cremini or button mushrooms cleaned and halved
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves or ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley chopped (plus extra for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce optional for added umami

Method

  1. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the mushrooms and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are browned and tender.
  3. Add the minced garlic and thyme to the skillet. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  4. Stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and soy sauce, if using. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for another minute until the butter is melted and everything is well combined.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley. Serve immediately, garnished with extra parsley if desired.
