  • 1/4 cup Honey Maple syrup can be a good substitute.
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced; fresh is best for taste.
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce Tamari for gluten-free or coconut aminos for low-sodium option.
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil Canola or avocado oil works nicely too.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes Optional; omit for milder flavor.
  • Salt To taste.
  • Pepper To taste.
For the Finish
  • Fresh Parsley Chopped, for garnish.

Equipment

  • large pot
  • Large skillet
  • spatula

Method

Steps
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8-10 minutes until al dente. Drain pasta, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add Italian sausage, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Add honey and soy sauce to the skillet. If you want spice, toss in red pepper flakes. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens.
  5. Add drained pasta to skillet, tossing to coat with sauce. If sauce is too thick, use reserved pasta water to adjust consistency.
  6. Plate the pasta and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve immediately and enjoy!
